Alvin C. Rice
President
Before fulltime involvement with BanX in 2001, Mr. Rice was
Vice Chairman of Merchant’s Group International, Inc., a private merchant
bank located in San Francisco. He joined MGI in 1999.
Al Rice’s career in banking, investment banking, and
commercial business management has spanned over 40 years. His 25-year
career at Bank of America began with a BofA training program and culminated
with his appointment as the Vice Chairman of the Board in charge of the
Bank’s worldwide commercial banking activities. Subsequently, Mr. Rice
served as Chairman of Los Angeles–based Imperial Bank; Chairman and
investor in Bansure Insurance Services, Chairman of American Interstate
Bank (where he managed a turn-around of that failing institution); and
Chairman of First National Bank of Marin. In addition to serving on the
boards of Bank of America, Imperial Bank, First National Bank of Marin and
American Interstate Bank, Mr. Rice served as a director of Memorex
Corporation, Fairchild Camera & Instrument Co., Tandem Corporation, Montreal
Trust Company, and U.S. Wireless Data, Inc., The San Francisco Museum of
Modern Art and the Stanford University’s Major Gifts Committee.
A.C. Rice is a Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of
Stanford University where he received a B.A. in Economics. He attended the
Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin and the Advanced
Management Program at Harvard University.
Joseph W. Waechter
Chairman of the Board
Prior to his association with BanX, Mr. Waechter was also a
director of Merchants Group International in San Francisco beginning in
1998. From 1972 through 1987, Mr. Waechter held several management
positions with DHL worldwide Express, including President and Chief
Executive Officer from 1983-1987. Following his tenure at DHL, Mr. Waechter
was Chairman and CEO of United Micronesia Development Association, Inc.,
managing its portfolio of operating companies in tourism,
telecommunications and airline industries. He was a director of Continental
Micronesia Inc., and Chairman and CEO of Danao International Holdings, a
developer of golf, hotel and resort projects in Vietnam.
Joe Waechter currently serves on the boards of: Danao
International Holdings, Onflow Corporation, Varsity Logistics, California
Linear Devices, Real Media and The Larry L. Hillbloom Foundation. He is
also the Managing Partner of Sunra Capital Holdings, Ltd., a Bermuda based
investment firm.
Mr. Waechter received a BA degree from San Francisco State
University.
Susan C. Rice
Secretary - Treasurer
Mrs. Rice was formerly the Executive Director of Alexander
Valley Winegrowers, Inc., a Sonoma County, Ca. association of grape growers
and wineries. Mrs. Rice’s business career began in 1970 as an Account
Executive with Conti-Commodity Services, a division of Continental Grain.
Following a term as Deputy Treasurer of Colorado, she worked for Salomon
Brothers (San Francisco) specializing in sales of investment instruments to
cities, states, and counties in the Western US. Subsequent affiliations
have been with The Jordan Winery (Sonoma County - marketing) Imperial Bank
(focusing on investment management for Corporate Pension Plans and Labor
Unions) Montgomery Securities (San Francisco -Corporate Finance
Group/Private Placements) Bansure Insurance Services (investor &
management-insurance brokerage and agency using internally developed
automated systems for the underwriting and delivery of auto insurance) and
California Bancorp Systems (investor & management of business which
originates and funds sub-prime auto loans for auto dealers throughout the
US)
Mrs. Rice, a graduate of the University of Colorado, served
as a Trustee of Colorado Women’s College in Denver, Children’s Hospital of
San Francisco (now California Pacific Medical Center) and Luther Burbank
Center for The Performing Arts (Santa Rosa, CA).
Robert B.
Moore
Director
Currently President and CEO of Rechina Pacific, the
largest producer of finished leather in China providing leather to the
automotive, footwear, luggage and garment industries worldwide. 2000-2008
President and CEO of Prime Tanning, the largest producer of leather in North America.
1998-2000 President of IUSA, a large Mexican conglomerate.
Successfully employed by IUSA to fill a large factory producing shoes
principally for US shoe brands. 1992-1997 President
of Sperry-Topsider and Tommy Hilfiger Footwear. Managed the “turn around” of
Sperry Topsider and with Tommy Hilfiger, introduced the most successful new
men’s branded footwear of the 1990’s according to Footwear News.
1984- 1992 rose from V.P. Marketing to President of Bostonian Shoes
managing a major turnaround that brought Bostonian Shoes back to
profitability following years of lackluster performance.
